In Tucson, nurseries are busiest on spring weekends, when new stock arrives and popular plants sell out; weekday mornings are calmer and staff have time to answer questions. Ask which plants are hardy for your USDA zone in Arizona, whether trees and shrubs carry a replacement guarantee (one year is common), and whether the nursery delivers and plants large items. Fall is the best planting season for many trees and perennials, and end-of-season sales are common. Check the listing for hours, seasonal closures and Google rating before you go.

This place is so much more than a plant shop! I have always wanted to learn how to garden and plant trees. I just moved back home to the Sonoran desert and it felt like a really intimidating place to be a beginner at these things. I am so happy that I chose to go to Spadefoot!!! The wealth of information that they share online is truly magnificent and the perspective they communicate encourages a sense of purpose and wonder in planting a native garden. My partner and I have planted several things from Spadefoot in the past few weeks. I feel that we were able to make informed choices as beginners about what to plant, where to plant it, and how to care for it thanks to all of the information that they have made available online and their generosity in answering questions at the nursery. Itβs also fantastic to be confident that there arenβt any pesticides in the plants weβve purchased. Bees and animals have started investigating the new plantings immediately! Itβs great to know that everything is safe for them. This ecosystem is under so much pressure right now. The knowledge that Spadefoot Nursery shares gives people the ability to make their yard part of the desert again and I r

I love this nursery! All plants are healthy and not overpriced. Jared has helped me with very valuable FREE advice to overcome some tough problems I had in my garden. He and his partner are delightful to all customers.

We've been trying to repopulate our garden after storms and a renovation killed almost everything. They're so helpful in their suggestions. Even when we had our eyes on a non-native plant, they were not judgemental... Just recommended other options but validated that sometimes it's ok to have plants for humans. We learn so much every time we come by, it's our favorite local nursery.

I love Spadefoot Nursery. They always have a great selection, and carry plants that I cannot find anywhere else. Itβs nice to buy stuff that I know will thrive in my garden and bring it bees, butterflies and other wildlife. I always look forward to stopping by.

Hands down my favourite nursery in the whole state to shop for natives. Everything I know about the beauty of Sonora, I've learned from Spadefoot. I live in Phoenix and there are a lot of nursery options but none of them have the wide selection of native plants that Spadefoot does and most of them use some variety of pesticide. My gardening objective is to provide pollinator habitat so pesticide on plants is a big no-go for me. I regularly make trips to Tucson just for plants.
